Team mates,
1) We had another great practice this weekend. There were 14 of us on the boat and hopefully, we'll have a full boat of survivors for the race. As the race draws near, we are planning to practice every weekend. Thanks to Stephen for coaching ---- he's doing an amazing job!!! He has "homework" assigned, on our website. www.pinkphurree.org.
2) Because of the Anderson Conference, this week, we will be practicing on Sunday, September 12 at 6 pm at Houston Water Sports Complex, instead of Saturday morning. Hoping you all can make it, please sign up, online.
3) Susan G. Komen race on October 3. As you should already know, we will be joining the team, Kathy's Kindred Spirits in honor of Kathy El Hejjali, who died in June. If you have not already signed up and would like to participate, please check our website for additonal information. Additionally, because, so many of us are participating in the Komen race, our practice has been moved to Sunday, October 4, 6 pm, also.
4) For those of you who missed the Pink Fire Truck last year, it is returning to Houston, just in time for our October Regatta. As of today, they are planning to be at the Race on Saturday, 10/17. I'm hoping that we'll have enough ladies interested in racing on Saturday, so that we'll can also do a "flower ceremony" and incorporate the Pink Fire Truck -- -don't worry, we'll have another ceremony on Sunday, also. Please let me kow, if you are racing and which day(s) by signing up online.
Also, most of you know that we usually host a survivor mixer on Saturday evening --- well, this year will be no different, except that the Pink Fire Truck and its crew will be joining us. We will be at Casa Ole #53 on the Northwest freeway. It should be lots of fun and a great opportunity to relax and let our "hair" down. I'm twisting Jose Grinan's arms from Fox26 news to do a news story on the event and I'll let everyone know what transpires. Hope ya'll plan to join us.
5) Those of you planning to attend the Conference, this week, please know that PP will have a display table, in its continued effort to recruit. Please let me know, if you will be at the conference, we'd welcome your presence. In addition, Susan's in charge of the Survivor wall and is also looking for help there.
6) I've ordered addtional pink camo shirts, please let me know if you want one.
7) The race shirts have finally be designed and it looks amazing. The place that I'd like to order them from has a backlog thru the end of October. I'm looking at other places, but, the price will be around $60/each.
Last, but not least, our Pink Rubber Duck race planning is in full swing. We had a fantabulous turnout at our planning meeting last week. We have some great prizes, including a $700 wellness package, 32" HDTV, 26" auto transmission bicycle, etc. The tickets are $5, if you don't have your duck numbers and are interested in selling tickets, please let me know and I'll get you some. Since, ALL our prizes are donated, we should make a dent into our boat fund. We are hoping to sell all 3,000 ducks that we've ordered, but we can't do it without you. Ducks will be available for sale online, with a credit card, by sometime next week. I've attached a flyer, please distribute, as far and wide, as possible.
