How exciting that with the availability of COVID-19 vaccinations the threat of this disease is lessening in some areas. However, we are not completely out of the woods just yet. We are still experiencing a global pandemic. Although the CDC has relaxed many guidelines and restrictions, we must remain diligent to protect ourselves and others. We know that while some folks have been fully vaccinated that is not the case for everyone. Since dragon boating is an international sport, all participants need to be flexible and adapt to current standards whether in the U.S. or abroad. We need to be aware that the guidelines observed locally or in the U.S. might not be the same when we are travelling to other states or countries.
As we prepare to participate in water practices, land practices and race events and with everyone’s safety being a priority, Pink Phurree has adapted a new safety training plan. Pink Phurree is proud to announce the formation of a new Health, Safety and Environmental crew with Gale J. Yandell as acting Crew Chief. The scope of this crew will be to adhere to and maintain all safety policies and guidelines.
Members will be trained by viewing a three-part video; the first on Health, the second on Safety and the third on the Environment. All members will be required to complete the video series. What you will learn about policies and procedures will be incorporated into all group activities
Rule #1 – If you are sick stay home. If you have a fever, cold, cough, runny nose, etc., take care of yourself and be respectful of others by staying home. Notify team captains at teamcaptains@pinkphurree.org or call 832.278.2010 at your earliest convenience to let them know you are sick.
You are asked to do your part in washing your hands frequently following CDC guidelines as well as using hand sanitizers. It is also expected that team members and guests will adhere to social distancing protocols. We know that some folks might have compromised immune systems, so our goal is to keep EVERYONE safe!
Active Pink Phurree members must register for team events on InstaTeam.
At least three days prior to the event members will receive an email notification and social media post to sign up for the event. Remember if you are ill, think you are ill or have been around anyone who is ill, STAY HOME and CALL/TEXT 832-278-2010.

Keeping the boat, flotation devices and paddles sanitized and disinfected is a Pink Phurree priority! It is expected that following each practice team members will participate in cleaning the boat and all equipment. Environmentally safe products will be provided.
As you can see being a Pink Phurree member or even a guest is far more than just using the correct paddling stroke! It requires us to be adaptive, flexible, and respectful. We need to adhere to all policies of property owners, businesses, other states, and other countries where we are visitors. This might include being asked to complete a health check, screening, wear a face covering, practice social distancing, etc. We know we have a great team, and we appreciate your willingness to make this a great and SAFE season!
Thank you for your time and PADDLES UP!
